The iClicker GO service allows a student to use a web browser or mobile phone app (Apple IOS or Android program) to vote online in a clicker class alongside students voting with the usual white handheld clicker device. It can answer the same multiple-choice and short-answer questions as other iClickers.
Students purchase and use an online subscription account instead of buying a hardware clicker to vote in class. Before buying an account check that your clicker class is enabled to use iClicker GO. Ask your professor. iClicker GO is disabled by default.
To enable use of iClicker GO in a course, professors have to create a free course account on the iClicker web site to allow students to vote through the iClicker servers.
To have students vote online through their iClicker GO accounts,
iClicker GO is purchased online by students (see the purchase page above) using a credit card. The UW textbook store does not sell iClicker GO accounts.
Subscription Term | Price |
---|---|
14-day trial | free |
180-day subscription | $10.00 |
1-year subscription (365 days) | $16.00 |
2-year subscription (730 days) | $22.00 |
4-year subscription (1460 days) | $32.00 |
A white clicker bought at the UW textbook store costs $40 for the multiple-choice 5 button clicker and $45 for the LCD+extra button clicker, taxes not included. These physical clickers can be sold back to the textbook store for $20 any time in the future.

When the iClicker page accepts the account information it will present a summary page like this. Please copy and save it for use later.

Each time you log into your free iClicker GO account you will be asked to upgrade to a paid account. You can decline and click the Upgrade Later button, but if you use the iClicker GO account beyond the free 14 day trial period you will need to supply credit card information to purchase a subscription. This is the only time personal information is required.
Once you have completed the WebClicker initialization, you can vote in class through your web browser at this site:
https://iclickergo.com/
At the start of a clicker class, login with your iClicker GO username and password. Select your instructor's name from the displayed list to enter your online clicker class. Your instructor has to allow online voting by making this online class first, so if you don't see your class name please get in touch with your instructor to check whether or not online voting will be used for your course.
When a clicker question is asked in class, the A-E selection buttons in your browser window will become active. Pressing a button will register a vote on the instructor's computer just as if you had voted in class using a hardware clicker. Change your mind and vote as often as you wish while the question is open. The system will remember the most recent vote.
If you have any questions or have trouble with the iClicker GO system, please get in touch with me.
As an iClicker GO user, register your iClicker GO clicker ID at the University of Waterloo Clicker Registration page when requested to register by your instructor.
A clicker course has to be enabled before students can use iClicker GO in a classroom. Enabling iClicker GO is done through configuation of the iclicker program. Run the iclicker.exe program (it is free on the iclicker.com site) and click the Settings button. Then fill out the second page/tab labelled iClicker GO on the more recent versions of iclicker. The settings on this page connect to the iClicker.com servers so you will need an internet connection to complete this step. On older versions of iclicker, GO was called WebClicker and was located on the first page/tab of iclicker settings pages. Please use the most recent version of iclicker with the GO settings page as the GO software works better.
Give your name, email, and zip code (N2L 3G1 for UW). Then select UW from the pull-down menu, and make up a password. Finally, click the Allowed radio button.
Now when you ask for clicker votes in class, students with iClicker GO accounts can vote through their browser or phone app.
See the iClicker GO section of the latest User Guide from the iClicker support page for more details.
