Information for prospective students
Email enquiries: Faculty members in Combinatorics and Optimization (C&O) and Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) usually have open positions for students every year. Please refer to the following webpages for more information on applying.
If the web-sites linked below do not provide the information which you seek, please email the appropriate staff member (e.g., undergraduate or graduate coordinators) in C&O, or in IQC. Due to the volume of email, I may not be able to respond to enquiries. I apologize in advance for this.
Graduate study: Please check here for more information on the Master's and PhD programs in C&O, and how you may apply to them. For applicants interested in quantum computing: Depending upon your undergraduate preparation, you may find that a program in Computer Science, Physics, or another department be more appropriate for you. You may also wish to specialize in quantum information and computation. Please check here for these options. All graduate students in C&O are supported by some combination of a TA, RA, and scholarships.
I supervise students in C&O and Computer Science. We need a complete application to assess your suitability for our programs, including undergraduate transcripts, and letters of recommendation. Please send these materials as described in the webpages linked above.
Undergraduate projects: Research projects suitable for undergraduate students may be available for both Canadian and international students, during any term. Please follow the procedure for applying described here for C&O or here for IQC. You will be informed of the details of the program if your application is successful. If you write to me directly, please include a CV, a transcript, statement of interests and background, dates and duration of internship desired, and ask two referees to send me a letter of support by email.
