Note_1

(Rev) Thomas Bayes (1702-1761) was an English Nonconformist minister, turned Presbyterian. He may have been tutored by De Moivre. His famous paper introducing this rule was published after his death. "Bayesians" are statisticians who opt for a purely probabilistic view of inference. All unknowns obtain from some distribution and ultimately, the distribution says it all.
