Assignment 2, W08

Marking Scheme

Assignment 2 - out of 100

Question 1 - worth 20 marks, each part worth 5. Part marks up to your
discretion, but don't give any more than 3 / 5 for a wrong answer unless it
is a very stupid copying mistake at the last step, in which case 4 / 5 might
be appropriate.

Question 2 - worth 10 marks, each part worth 5, mark it like question 1.

Question 3 - out of 10, parts (a) and (b) are worth 3 points, and (c) is
worth 4. Give consistent part marks up to your discretion, and do not give
more than 2 / 3 or 2 / 4 for an incorrect solution.

Question 4 - out of 10, each part worth 5, don't give more than 3/5 for an
incorrect solution to either part.

Question 5 - 10 marks in total. Give 5 / 10 for the correct matrix and a
maximum of 7 / 10 if they get the final determinant incorrect (for just
making a stupid mistake).

Question 6 - 10 marks. Same marking as 5.

Question 7 - out of 10 marks. Give 5 marks for the correct answer, and 5 for
the reason. Give part marks for work up to your discretion, but no more than
3/10 for the wrong answer.

Question 8 - out of 20 marks. Each part worth 4. If somebody gets a part
wrong and relies on it for later work that is otherwise correct, give the
later part at most 2 / 4.
