Hit the link "Guest Room Reservation", in the left column. In the field "Conference/group name" enter "Banach algebras conference". The rate structure is as follows:

standard dormitory room to yourself, but with communal bath: $38.00/night
standard dormitory room shared with one other, and with communal bath: $28.25/night.

It looks as if you will be simply asked to place a deposit when you register online, and the full payment will be made once you are here in Waterloo. Select Room type: "Single". If you care to share the room, to get the $28.25/night rate, indicate so in "Other special requirements" line; you may even nominate a roommate.

The rate quoted to me is $145/night. This is a comfortable hotel, though in a slightly isolated location.

Destination Inn

This hotel is 4km from UW's campus <http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4580285>.

Rates quoted are $114/night. This hotel's major advantage is that it is close to a major transit hub at Conestoga Mall. iXpress buses take 11 minutes to reach UW from there, and 18 minutes to reach Uptown Waterloo (a social area in which you may choose to spend your evenings) <http://www.grt.ca/en/routesschedules/resources/spiXpress_Sept07_09.pdf>.

Unfortunately, reservations at a discounted can be made only by phone: 1-866-222-9175 (we do not know if this number works outside of North America) or 519-884-0100.

Comfort Inn

This hotel is just over 2km from UW's campus <http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4580413>, and about 1km from Uptown Waterloo.

They have a special rate of $118/night. To get this rate you must phone 519-747-9400.
